WHAT ARE BELEAFLETS?
“Beleaflets” are cheat sheets to regionalized homeless services in Los Angeles County, each lists primarily adult services and resources for people experiencing homelessness in specific Service Planning Areas (SPAs, see map). Beleaflets empower the un-housed to empower themselves through general services, health care, employment programs and housing options. We encourage you to visit un-housed citizens in your area, to hear their stories and share the steps needed to find the bridge out of homelessness.
3 STEPS TO CHANGE
LA citizens become independent activists with Beleaflets by sharing the exact steps Lionel Powell the Treeman takes in A DocumenTree to find the bridge out of homelessness:
1. Attend to general needs like food, shelter and hygiene at the closest general services center, plus enroll for housing options.
2. Attend to physical and mental health at the nearest health clinic, a critical step to crossing the bridge out of homelessness.
3. Rejoin the workforce through Chrysalis and use that income in tandem with PATH People Assisting The Homeless to find housing.
Lionel’s dream is to lead the way so other citizens experiencing homelessness
can benefit from his story.

HOW BELEAFLETS STARTED
“The Beleaflets started when I discovered that so many people who are living on the streets are suffering and have no idea of the services available to them to help themselves. One day I encountered a young pregnant woman who was experiencing homelessness and it was clear she needed help from someone with experience well beyond my own. After some creative Googling I found a variety of homeless programs for women including those who were pregnant. She had no idea about any of the programs, I wrote everything down for her and instantly her face lit up with hope. Soon after, Treeman and I created the Beleaflets, a way to help those in need find the bridge out of homelessness. ”
– Michael Angelo, Director of A DocumenTree
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to offer Beleaflets to family and youth as well as adults in LA County. Eventually we’d like to make them available nationally so anywhere in the US you can help someone find the services they need by simply entering your zip code into our website. Beleaflets are a public service and until we expand the project you can supplement your Beleaflets with the absolute closest medical clinic by visiting the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County and entering your zip code: https://ccalac.org/find-a-clinic/
